Arresto Menor

My annual payment for my traditional life insurance should've ended last yr. But according to my agent, I need to extend 5 more years to cover me for life. I felt disappointed because I'm expecting it to end last year and I'm planning to invest on another policy. Shouldn't this be a case that I can raise? They told me before that I could pay for 8yrs only. Last year was my 10th of paying.
