Hi,
I'd like to ask if absence from work due to important family matter is considered insubordination though i informed my superior that i can't make it for work 4 hours before my time for duty. Thank you.

What is your company policy on advisement?

How many hours prior?

And what was your supervisor's reply when you notified him?

We dont have a clear policy on this except that there will be notification of absence. My superior said that i have to be at work as she cannot extend her duty to cover for me as she has appointment after her shift.

This scenerio happened several times in the past by my other colleague wherein she did not show up for work without proper notification and it was me who covered for her but no course of action whatsoever was done by my superior. Is it possible to site this incident as part of my explaination?

That scenarios does not constitute insubordination but rather implies 'neglect of duty'.
