wanted to resign from work

i was fortunate to stumble upon your forum and i registered immediately. this is my first post.

i have this small problem that i would like to consult.

i've been w/ my current employer for almost 5 years now and i just got a better offer from another company. my decision was quick since the offer/package was good. problem is my immediate superior doesn't want to let go of me. honestly, even if they match the offer being given, i'd still grab the new job. and i've already made my decision.

and since my current employer doesn't want to let go of me, i can't begin w/ my 30-day notice.

my question now is, what if i just leave my work and start on the new one? will there be a case against me?

an employee has a right to resign as long as he gives 30 day notice. the employer has no say about it. just file your resignation letter.

don't just take off though. without the 30 day notice they can file a case against you for damages.

will file this monday and observe the 30day notice.
