I'm just new here and I was looking for some advice on what to do. I opened an online account with a bank and told them i will need a visa card for my travel abroad. i applied online. when i picked up the card and went home, i registered the acct on their website. after realizing that i'm unable to log in, i called the bank's call center to ask why. they said my details have yet to be updated, and that it may take up to 48 hrs. fine. a week has passed and i still wasn't able to log in. within the first week of the dilemma i was advised the issue was because of a mismatch in my date of birth. the correction may take 24-48 hrs for the system to catch up.
i received a msg from one of the bank's staff saying my acct should be active within the day or two, forgetting to tell me there's a holiday in april 9. my resolution lasted longer than necessary. And my trip was April 9. i was prepared to book a hotel reservation by walking at least on the same day that i was in thailand. but not for the entire duration of my trip which would be 8 days.
when i was already in thailand i realized i was still unable to access the account. i sent them an urgent email and they responded in april 15. my flight back home was april 17. now that i have returned and spoke to them, they're claiming my account had been enrolled and activated in april 12. i said i did not receive any confirmation that my account was acitvated in april 12, otherwise, i would have used it as soon as. and i never received any confirmation to tell me that my enrollment was successful. the only confirmation i received was april 15.
is this qualified as unsound advice? my trip in thailand was greatly negatively impacted and some destinations were not met because of my inability to make online hotel reservations. hotels in thailand during the thailand new year is very scarce, and they prioritize online bookings. and i couldn't afford the high luxury ones.
what are my chances of asking to be compensated for all the trouble?
please help, thank you very much.
