Good Day! My girlfriend and I are planning to get married here in the Philippines. She is now a canadian citizen, she just got her certificate of divorce in canada from her canadian husband last January 31, 2013. They also got married here in the Philippines last January 24, 2005 but based on National Statistics Office (NSO), the record of their marriage was January 24, 2004 and in Australia where in fact it must be in Canada. My question is, can we get married here considering that she has a record of marriage in NSO? If not how can we dissolve the record of marriage in NSO, how much it will cost us and how long it will take time?

Hoping to have an answers from you!

Thank you and more power!

as much as i wish to say that you should go ahead, unfortunately, the existence of two marriage contracts at NSO can become basis for a charge of bigamy. the safer way will be to file a court petition first for recognition of the foreign divorce.

or get married outside of ph territory.
