We wanted to purchase a second hand car with a car dealer near our place. We didnt have enough cash to purchase our choice of car so we decided to have it financed by a loan company. Delear required 10k for reservation for 2 weeks but we paid 20k with the good intention to complete our transaction as soon as we find suitable financing term that we could afford. Since our budget was tight, prior to the payment we asked the dealer if the amount was refundable in case we dont get someone to finance. The said yes for as lon as it is within 2 weeks from time of reservation. At that time no receipt was given, and a "refundable" mark was made on their log book. 7 days after we got a financing company. However, delear advised that despite credit advice of the financing comp. the car wont be released to us as we have to pay an extra 17k on top of reservation and remaining downpayment for the car. The 17k was to process the transfer of car ownership. Since we were not prepared for the extra cost, we decided to cancel and requested foe refund. Delear denied us of a refund, giving us all sorts of alibi. Do we have fighting chance to get our money back. It will be 2 weeks on saturday and delear issued receipt of payment of the reservation just yesterday.
