Contract by virtue of which the owner or the agent of a vessel binds himself to transport merchandise or persons for a fixed price. It has also been defined as a contract by virtue of which the owner or the agent of the vessel lets the vessel or some principal part thereof for the transportation of goods or persons from one port to another.
