hi,

my ex wife applied for a passport last 2007 and used her maiden name. she told me this because her employer suggested it because of the nature of her job which requires her to work abroad.

now, i found out that she used her maiden name and filed the appliation as single.

is there any legal repercussion to this?

a woman is allowed to use her maiden name. whether she is single, to my mind, is not a material fact in the passport. nevertheless, she can be vulnerable for falsification of public document.
