My question is the 30 day rendering rule and notice applicable if you are a contractual employee who is just planning to finish of his contract and leave?

My contract expires on May 9, 2014, today is April 24, 2014. I plan to no longer continue my work here after May 9, my question is if my employer can demand me to render 30 days?

Also is this considered as a resignation even though I am just planning to finish off the contract?

Let the contract expire. If they offer you a renewal or extension, just refuse.

You are not obligated to serve 30 days notice.

Is there anything I can quote or point out in the labor code to defend myself for this? Cause they might point that I am technically resigning and force me to stay and do turnovers?

Check your contract. What does it say about resigning and end-of-contract?

It says that if you will resign you need to render 30 days prior to the date of resignation. But I'm banking on the fact that I am not resigning and am just finishing off my contract.

Also it says here that the contract will only last until May 9, 2014.

So is this enough here to defend myself that I should be qualified to be cleared with them even though I will not render any 30 day period of work?

Yes that is not a resignation so all should be well. On your last hour of the last shift, go to the HR Dept and ask for clearance forms. Have your contract with you just to be sure, for evidence, that you do not need to come in anymore on the next day.
