My co-worker wanted to know if he can resign from work immediately?

He have medical records or statements from his doctor that he needs to rest his eyes due to some bulging near the black circle in our eye.

Can he do that?

the law does not allow him to just leave his job. I recommend that he files leave immediately along with his resignation with an appeal that it be approved immediately so he does not have to serve out the whole 30 days notice period.
