what kind of debt is this? credit card? why would they involve your mother?

when a debtor dies, the debt is not extinguished but the claim should be against the properties left by the deceased debtor. did your father leave any properties?

i recommend that you write them back indicating that your father has died. if they want to claim, it has to be against his estate.
