Please advise how to check if the land title/certificate is already in my name.

Hi, I need your advise regarding my situation and i would like to thank you in advance. Before my grandfather died he visited and informed us na binigyan nya kaming mga apo nya ng sari sariling lupa namin. I was 12 years old back then, i am already 23 now and has 1 child. My father told us before he died na nasa name na daw namin yun lupa but did not tell us where the titles are. Uncle po namin ang nag aasikaso ng mga lupa sa probinsya ngayon. I asked him regarding dun sa mga lupa namin and he got upset and told me na pag nabenta po daw yun lupa ay aabutan na lang daw kaming magkakaptid ng pera dahil naka pangalan pa daw sa lolo ko yun lupa but he cannot show us the title kasi wala daw sa kanya, yun abogado na po daw bahala sa lahat. My husband advised me not to sign any document or give my uncle any goverment issued id numbers. Ano po ba ang dapat kong gawin to check kung naka pangalan na po sa amin yun lupa? do you know where the properties are located? you can inquire at the assessor's office if there are tax declarations then at the Registry of deeds if there are titles.
