The establishment is a small ESL school, around 17 employees (teaching and non-teaching).The nature of the business is that, students do not come regularly to guarantee everyone of full working hours. There will only be 7 students in the coming term. Thus, there wouldn't be much work needed from the kitchen staff (4). Thus, the management is thinking of cutting down their hours to four each by shift since, there wouldn't be enough to pay full hours anyway as there are no students. However, this would lead to their salary falling below minimum wage. No contract nor CBA whatsoever.
QUESTION:
Is it okay for the management to implement such decision? If not, what could be done instead?
Thank you!
