Anticipating Large Hospital Bill that we cannot pay ASAP

Arresto Menor

Greetings!

Wednesday of last week po, na admit sa Medical City yung sister ko due to gastrointestinal infection.  She was supposed to be released by saturday but her temperature was spiking and she has cough and colds so nag stay pa ng ilang days.  Mare release na dapat ng Wednesday dahil wala nang temperature spike when she suddenly felt numbness sa arms nya, then by thursday, no mobility from chest down.  She was diagnosed with Guillaine Barre syndrome which can happen after onset ng gastro infection.  Ang dilemma namin po ay yung anticipated ballooning of the hospital bill.  She was quickly taken to the ICU to prevent the numbness from spreading up and to quickly administer the meds which cost 25k per vial.  She will need 7 vials a day for 5 days.  We were already briefed that this could amount to 800K.  As far as we know, wala naman kaming choice over the wellfare of my sister pero inaanticipate na namin na medyo mahihirapang magbayad ng biglaan.  Yung part ng gastro infection is covered by her hmo under 120k, at lahat ng excess ay sa amin na.  Wala po kaming balak takasan ang aming obligations but we'd like to know kung ano pong laws regarding promissory notes sa hospital.  Nabasa ko po na may law na nag aapply lang if hindi nag stay sa private room.

Additional pa po.  Yung sister ko po na na confine ay may outstanding personal loan sa bank.  So most likely hindi nya po muna mababayaran yung loans nya due to the prevailing circumstances.  Ano kaya ang pwede nyang gawin para hindi muna sya magbayad for now without the legal consequences.

Maraming salamat po sa any advice.   God bless.
