Hi po, Im a Fil-Am Born in the Phils but recognized by my father as an American Citizen. Pero matagal na po ako dito s Pinas since Birth, now that Im 26 years old and my passport is expired. How can I apply for a dual citizenship? Or should I choose to be a Filipino? Cause Im afraid of being deported and have to pay big taxes for overstaying. Also, Im working here without any benefits like the SSS, PagIbig,etc...Thanks!

what is your passport, american or filipino?

do you have a filipino birth certificate?

if your mother is filipina, then you are automatically a dual citizen.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a US passport, but expired since 1991.
My mother is a Filipina and I have a Phil Birth Certificate, but does this mean I am waived of any penalties? Cause I heard some situations like me that they were jailed by immigration till further payment of penalties are done before being deported...

i recommend you acquire a philippine passport as proof your citizenship and so you won't be hassled.
