Hi,

Im practicing HR for more than 5 yrs, and it ha ben a practice in the companies Ive worked for to have 1 hr non comp break, and a 30 min coffee break.

ill be transferring work, and in this new company, they espouse a 1 non comp break and without 30 min break, is that legal?

its a call center btw.

please advise.

Yes they are correct. The only requirement by law is a 1 hour mealtime.

You just probably got used to having the additional break in that company.

Any other breaktime is at the discretion of the company.

(Although such companies "shoot themselves in the foot" Smile because very few people can work EFFECTIVE that long time without breaks... But more effective to SPLIT that 30 minute break into more than one, and spread during the day. E g 15 minutes in the middle before the 1 hour break plus one 15 minutes in the middle after it.)
