I was just wondering if penalty fees on late payments for hospitals are legal? As for I am now settling my late mother's outstanding balance and am surprised when I noticed that the penalty fee almost reached as much as the principal fee. Granted that I am trying to settle them in a long period of time, I think it is not right to add penalty for the principal balance because I am financially deficient to begin with. Why do they have to add a certain amount to my balance which I am having a hard time to settle?
