Nowadays, Spouses and partners of British citizens and of UK permanent residents can apply after 2 years on a spouse/partner visa if he/she has the first Spouse/Partner visa issued before 9 July 2012. Those who had a first Spouse/Partner visa issued after 9 July 2012 then waiting time for an ILR will be 5 years (not 2 years).
Meaning, you will need to live in the UK for 5 years as a British spouse before you can be entitled to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (permanent residence visa). Then you have to prove your English with ESOL with Citizenship or take an exam of Life in the UK test. You will also have to prove that you and your husband are earning enough amount based on the government requirements.

If and when you decided to settle in the UK make sure when you rent or buy a house name the council tax under both yours and your husband' name, bank account, electricity, water and any other government documents that will prove your length of residency in the Kingdom. You will need 6 of these both under your names or 3 under both your names and another 3 each under your names. You don't need a solicitor to help you with the application so long as you follow their instructions and requirements you should be fine and will save a lot of money rather than hiring a solicitor which will cost you £300 minimum to help you process your applications.
