-A few years ago, the property was sold to one of the relatives of the owner of the land where our home stands.
-This year, the new landlord advised us of his plan to renovate the whole place, and since we do not have anywhere else to go, we had to find a place where we can move to. We found an old house that needs renovation, so we have asked the landlord if he can be kind to assist us financially by not letting us pay for the rental for the month of November. He said he can, however, we need to pull out all of our things by the end of November otherwise all of our things will be put away. If we are unsure if we can move out all of our things by eom, we need to write a check to him. If we move out by eom, he will deposit the money back to us once he encashes the check, but if we don't, our check will be forfeited.
The question is, if my grandmother still has the original contract where it was indicated that the house was built by my grandfather, shouldn't we at least get something out of it?... based on the money my grandfather has spent building the house and based on what we have spent all throughout the years to have the house on good condition? Also, much of the furniture there are real narra and high end woods, like those of the wall cabinets...and we also have antique porcelains and figurines there that cannot be moved that easily since the house we are moving to is definitely a whole lot smaller than that of where we are currently living in now.
After renovation of the place, the price will surely skyrocket based on the hints he gave us. We don't think we can afford to live there anymore, as much as we wanted to, since it holds so many memories dear to us.
Thanks.
