Hello

1. I am looking to hire an accounting graduate. I will be paying for the CPA course of around P10k. I would like to lock them into a period of employment with me to avoid them getting that qualification then disappearing at my expense.

I feel a period of 2 years would be reasonable. Most employers do not pay for the CPA course so it's an incentive for them to come and work for me.

Is that period too long, or is it entirely my choice provided the candidate agrees?

2. If staff work overtime are they able to take time in lieu instead of being paid overtime? Currently I give them 1.5 hours off for each hour worked and everyone is happy to do that in my business.

Is that legal if everyone agrees and wants to do that?

Thanks for any assistance.

1. It is feasible. Just make sure you have them sign a MOA and it is notarized

2. Off-setting is prohibited but if I may suggest, you can have a compressed worked week. But it also depends on your business of course if compressed work days is viable or not Smile

Thanks for that, appreciate it.

We can't really do a compressed work week. The overtime is usually just if we get stuck around a deadline.

It's crazy that something all the staff are happy with is prohibited Wink
