example

Jan. 1 Holiday. 2. 3. 4. 5
employee 1. off. ! ! ! off. = 4 days payed salary dahil holiday yun 1
employee 2. ! off. off. ! ! = 4 days payed kasi pumasok sya ng double pay nung 1

* ! - meaning pumasok sya sa work

so useless din holiday pay in terms of payment.. correct me if im wrong thanks

For me the computation is right because it seems that you have 2 day-off per week and you are paid on a daily basis.

But if you are a monthly paid, you can determine the difference. This is how you compute for monthly paid:
for the month of January, you didn't have any absence and you are able to work on a holiday so that would be monthly salary + Holiday premium (double pay if legal holiday, 30% if special holiday)
e.g 7,000 (monthly wage) + 269 (minimum wage per day if computed is 269. Since you are still paid during holiday, if you work, you will be added either double or 30% additional on top of your monthly salary).

In your case (in my own understanding), it was computed this way:
Employee 1: was paid holiday pay plus three working days= 4 working days paid
Employee 2: was paid double since she worked on a holiday but has only two working days= 4 working days.

That is really the unfortunate reality if you are a daily paid employee

I hope understood my explanation Smile

If you are a contractual employee, you may request to be monthly paid employee but it is the company's prerogative to approve it or not. But base on experience, I have never heard of a contractual employee that is monthly paid.

Probationary employee also (most of the time especially for rank and file employee) are daily paid until such time they become regular employees.

LaboRN,

You both have worked for three days but I assume you company is gave your co-worker a holiday pay that's why  you received similar amount.

Let's break it down further (Assuming that you per day is p300)

Employee 1:

January 1: P300 (she was given holiday pay  even if she didn't work)
January 2: P300 (She worked on this day)
January 3: P300 (She worked on this day)
January 4: P300 (She worked on this day)
January 5: P000 (No pay because it is her day off)
Total: P1,200

Employee 2:

January 1: P600 (She received double pay since she worked on a holiday
January 2: P000 (No pay because it is her day off)
January 3: P000 (No pay because it is her day off)
January 4: P300 (She worked on this day)
January 5: P300 (She worked on this day)
Total: P1,200

I hope the computation is clear
