the one who officiated my marriage is licensed only in city-a. we got married in a place in city-b. however, we indicated in the marriage contract that we got married in city-a. just would like to know if our marriage is still valid or not.

the rule on the solemnizing officer is whether at least one of the parties believed he had sufficient authority to conduct the marriage at the time of the wedding.

if so then the marriage is valid and this defect you mentioned only makes the solemnizing officer liable. but it does not affect the validity of the marriage.

So true. it will not affect your validity of marriage. But the person or persons who is liable for irregularities ( the solemnizing officer in your case ) will be civilly, criminally and administratively liable.
