i got married to a man 16 years ago. after about 7 months,we separated and lost communication and i gave birth to our child around that same time. i only recently found out that he got married to some other lady from philipines and we never got divorced. what is the punishment that can be imposed on my husband and his new wife???

If your husband is a Filipino (and remains a Filipino up to this date), and you were validly married (whether here in the Philippines or abroad) you can file charges of bigamy against him in Philippine courts. You can also ask for child support.

I have all valid documents that show we were validly married,his new wife knew of our marriage,and they even have two kids together now..,they had a marriage in kasalan ng bayan...,what happens to the new wife and what is her case???

I will assume that you are both Filipinos and are both in the Philippines.

1. The second marriage is void.

2. The first marriage is valid.

3. You may have your marriage annulled/nullified, if there are grounds available to you.

4. You may file a case of bigamy against him.

5. Your child with him is legitimate. His children under the second marriage are illegitimate.

6. You may ask for child support.

Curious lang, why only now after 16 years?

because i only find out now,coz they think that am died already...i also want to know about the new wife, what is going to be happen to her in this case?

the proper charge will be bigamy. in order to implicate the second wife, you will have to prove that she knew that he was married and you were still alive

yes she new it that i am still alive...



thank you so much for the advice,,,,,and god bless you all. i will do the file case for them, and i want them to be punishment,, i will find a good lawyer to handle my case for them,,,
