caught in the act: shoplift

I also got caught from shoplifting of 2 items worth 75pesos each
(exactly the same product). I don't really know why
I did that. Parang walang! Trip ko lang itry
kunin ung item. Kala ko ganon lang kadali un, hindi pla! Then after leaving the supermarket
with my paid groceries, a man approached me
(security officer, malamang!), sabi nya "patingin
nung resibo nung nilagay mong dalawang item
sa bulsa ng bag mo" and then I opened it and he
saw the 2 items. Kelangan ko daw bayaran un
pero dun sa office nila so pumayag nlng ako.
Pag dating dun sa security office nila may pina
fill-up na form with my info (verified with ID)
and ilagay ko dw dun kung ano ung ginawa ko.
Tinanong nila ko bat ko ginawa un. Sbi ko
"ewan ko". Pinagbabayad nila ko pero sbi nila
hindi na ung item ang babayaran ko kundi ung
kaso ko na. So I asked them how much, sbi nila
bahala na dw ako kung magkano sa pwede
kong ibigay. So na confuse nman ako dun sa
sinabi nya. Then paulit ulit ko sila tinanong
kung magkano ba talaga dapat kong bayaran
but same answer din natanggap ko. When I said
na babayaran ko lang ung price ng item pero
hindi sila pumayag at bigla nilang sinabi na
paparirmahin ako ng waiver at picture taking
daw pero hindi nila ipopost ung picture. Then
sabi ko baket ako pipicturan? Pwede akong
tumangi na itake ung picture ko sabi ko dun sa
guard. Sabi ko may right ako tumanggi magpapicture. Pumayag naman sila nung sinabi ko na
dodoblehin ko nalang ung price nung items. So
binigay ko ung money pero inilagay ko dun sa
form na nagbayad ako ng double ng amount
nung item. After mafill up ung waiver and form
pinaalis na nila ko. Mga 30mins siguro ako
nandun sa office nila.

Question ko lang po kung okay lang ba
pumunta uli sa mall na 'yon? Un lang kasi ang
mall for groceries malapit sa akin. Baka kasi
pag isipan nila ako na ulitin ung nagawa ko pag
nakita nila uli ako?
Tanong ko din po kung ano batayan nila sa mga kinukulong nila na shoplifter at ung mga pinapapirma lang ng mga waiver? Depende ba un sahalaga nung item? I read some articles kasi na may nakukulong at ung iba hindi. Like in my case na binabayaran + waiver lang.

They did not told me that I can or cannot go that mall after what happened. They just let me go after the whole process.

My other question is: is there any classification or degree of shoplifting? Is it depend on the amount of the item you took in order for them to decide whether that person should go to jail or not?

theft is subdivided by amount. the mall exercised its discretion whether the will file a case against you and decided not to. learn from the experience. good luck.

I scared, i wouldlike to know what will be next thing to happen to me. Are they going to have a settlement with me and for how long this procedure will be. I hate going to rtc. thanks

if you already have a settlement at the mediation center, then you should be ok.

Pwede po bang malaman kung ano yung acts para ma-consider na nagshoplift ang isang tao? Kahapon po kasi, i enter this certain stablishment at may maling variant/flavor ng item ako na binili days ago at noon ko lang nalaman 'no return no exchange' pala ang policy nila..or basta may mga certain products lang yung pwedeng palitan. I'm just a teenager pero already not a minor, I exchange the item I bought with the same item pero yung tamang variant na. Hindi naman po nila ako sinita or anything that hinders me from going out of the place..may ibang items rin akong binili at okay naman..pero natatakot po ako..kasi may pinuntahan pa ako after that then nung pauwi na ako may nakasabay akong mga babae na parang ako yung pinag-uusapan..they are saying na..nakasalamin yung bata dun ganyan rin yung suot..natakot po ako..alam ko naman pong pwedeng napaparanoid lang ako pero posible po bang i-display agad nila sa store yung mukha ko since isa akong franchise dealer at may mga credentials din po akong naisubmit sa kanila.. I do have good intentions in doing that, pero alam ko pong maling execution ang ginawa ko. Sunday po ngayon and Im planning to go there on monday just to clear my name..ano pong pwede nyong i-advice sakin? ano po kaya ang pinaka-mabigat na punishment ang pwedeng naipataw nila..the unused item nga po pala is worth 109pesos.
