Intestate Estate----Grandparents didn't leave a will...and so did Father

Arresto Menor

My father’s parents didn’t leave a will. My father, being their only child, was their sole heir.
My father died recently and didn’t leave a will (Intestate). My sister and I are the legitimate children.
We have come to find out that my father did not file for a title transfer on the properties his parents owned. The properties are still in my grandparents’ names to this day. What can my sister and I do at this point? Is it true that before we can claim the properties, they would have to be transferred from my grandparents names, to my Father’s (even though he has passed away?) and then finally to my sister and me? I look forward to your advice.
