I just need legal advise on my case...
my BF, now based in australia was married here in the phils. he and his wife are now both australian citizens and will now file a divorce in australia. what happens now to their marriage here in the phils? does it follow that when they renounced their filipino citizenship, they are no longer covered by phil law therefore, making their phil marriage no longer valid and can remarry here? he plans to marry me in australia once the divorce papers are out. I am more concerned about his martial status here in the phils esp if he plans to apply for a dual citizenship and decides to return here in the phils for good.. you opinions/advise is greatly appreciated..thanks in advance

the real risk here is that someone might file a case of bigamy against him and you because of the two resulting marriage certificates.

it is my opinion that if he is able to present a certificate of legal capacity, that should be enough to make your marriage legal.

but if he really wants to make it fool proof, he will have to file a case to have the divorce annotated on the marriage certificate by filing a petition for recognition of divorce.
