I am first year law student, problem ko is hindi ako masyado articulate sa english. I can understand the provisions of the law, but the problem is when there is a recitation or exams, I find difficulty on expressing myself (speaking and writing), so natatagalan ako sumagot sa exam or recitation. Syempre hindi lahat naman maisasa ulo mo per article and sections word by word, there are times na, you define it by yourself. I am CPA, but I also dream that to become a lawyer someday.Siguro nasanay lang ako sa CPA Board Exam, that you analyze the problem, apply the principles, thats it. Pero I realize now ibang playing field pala itong College of Law as well as taking the bar exam.

Do i need to enroll english class this summer, Is enrolling IELTS, yung para sa nursing helpful? Yun kasi nakikita ko right now as my weakness when I will decide to take the bar exam. Thanks

hi! sa IELTS po kasi will measure how well you comprehend, grammar, vocabulary etc. If you enroll on review class, it will benefit you specially on writing and speaking. If you love texting, iwasan mo n din. like me, I find it hard to construct simple subject verb agreement dahil sa text. nasanay na kasi ako sa shortcut words. if you are having a hard time, read pocketbooks in English text. try conversing in English, improve yourself, as much as possible, kahit mukhang trying hard ka. listen well to conversations of people who speak English fluently. ska Filipino tayo, 2nd language lng ang english natural na hindi natin masyadong magamit ito. (alibi pag dumudugo n ang ilong ko hehe) Anyway, goodluck on your career! Smile Godbless!

Try reading fiction books like John Grisham's novels, or any reading materials that you find enjoyable. As what I've read on one forum, don't even underestimate Harry Potter series.

While typing or browsing on your computer, you can enrich your vocabulary by occasionally checking the synonyms of the words you encounter. Just right-click on the words then point to synonyms and have a quick glance of the more familiar words to you.

Read books in english text and watch english films/TV series preferably of those with subtitles. More often, our brain can easily grasp information if two or more of our senses worked at a time. I would recommend 1997 US TV Series "The Practice".

sa pagsusulat ang strategy ko ay ang pag-gamit na past tenses. kasi sa past tense hindi mo na kailangan isipin kung singular or plural ang subject mo. safe sya pag medyo alanganin ka sa subject verb agreement.
kung gusto mo talaga matuto umpisahan mo sa subject verb agreement. iilan lang ang rules dyan. tapos practice and read more.

Don't worry, Maribel. Just be sure you follow atty. sureshock, you'll be fine.

Anyway, language nuances make for a colorful day in court...

Q: So the date of conception of your baby was August 8th?

A: Yes.

Q: And what were you doing at that time?

Have your (hilarious) day in court...

Q: What was the first thing your husband said to you when he woke up that morning?
A: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?"
Q: And why did that upset you?
A: My name is Susan.

Q: How many times have you committed suicide?
