Good day po. I work for a financial company and part of our job is to conduct due diligence when needed especially if it involves our clients. One day a client complained that her lawyer was stealing from her and taking advantage of her properties. She is old and has lapses and she suspects all people around her are stealing from her. So I was surprised to see her again with her lawyer who works for the gov't so he does not really have any legal document that he is a legal counsel or even an spa. I asked the old lady who her beneficiaries are but could not get a straight answer as she was incoherent and would answer vaguely. So I talked to the atty but instead got a negative reaction from him and he refused to answer any of my questions as I was just trying to get information about the clients beneficiaries/relatives The lawyer obviously did not liked being asked even a simple question such as if he was related to the client. and answered in a harsh way No!!. So I decided to ask the client again using situations that if she passed away who could be her beneficiary. She answered - the lawyer. I simply corrected her by saying that it should be a relative.
To make things short the lawyer filed a long and narrative complaint against me describing me to be vexing, meddling therefore humiliating him and embarrassing him and he asked the company if my actions are within our policy , even asking for the cctv footage maybe to fish for proof. Our company replied to his query stating yes my actions were within policy and I was looking out for our client's welfare and found no reason to act further on.
The company made the reply short and simple not even touching on the issues of my mannerisms which he took offence and making me look that I was spiting him. My question is, once he receives the reply can the lawyer still file a case against me personally? what case can he file. Can unjust vexation be one of them? Does he have something to go on? I really need your help as I feel I am the one being harrassed here but cannot do anything as I work for a company If he does file a case, will my company's stance help to defend me?
