In this country, is it illegal to look up some things on the Internet?

'Cause as far as I know, in this country, the law is pretty vague on this.

'Cause I know that in America, I know that nothing is illegal to search, it is only clicking on illegal links that's illegal. Is this the case in the Philippines too?

It depends on how such act of searching suspicious topics will be construed by the court if presented as evidence by the prosecution/opposing counsel. It also depends on what crime is charged on the accused, since criminal acts vary on its elements and commission as established in the Revised Penal Code and the necessary jurisprudence.

Such act can be used as circumstantial evidence to establish motive in a criminal case, following the rules on electronic evidence in the Rules of Court.

But would the searching itself be illegal?

As far as I know, we have no specific law that lists the prohibited search of certain topics. Some internationally-accepted illegal searches are those of pedophilia and the like, and may be used against you since child pornography is illegal here in the Philippines.

For clarification on your questions, you should try contacting the NBI cybercrime division and ask your questions there so that you may have someone with more authority in answering your queries.

Or just the viewing of illegal content?

Again, you may be held liable for such viewing of illegal content, especially if it is child pornography since we have a law against that.

If you want authoritative answers regarding that, contact the NBI cybercrime division and ask away.
