Previous employee assigned by company as title owner

I was previously an employee in a property development company. The owners bought properties in the provinces naming it under the employees name. No benefit was derived from the assignment. We have a declaration of trust to support such assigment but was not given any copy. We heard that some of those properties have a pending case under the names of the nominees (employees)and the worry is that our names and reputation is on the line specially those who may be seeking to travel abroad. Currently I am no longer employed with this company and that they are asking us to sign some other documents relating to the other properties under our names..

Can I opt not to sign these documents as I am no longer an employee of the company?
If in case there is a pending case against me, can i go after the company if this would mean loss of employment or travel opportunity because of this?

yes, you can refuse to sign. that was a bad practice anyway and it's their fault.

indeed, their remedy is to file a case against you to uphold the trust. ask them to compensate you for the trust to bargain for signing of the documents.
