Alright, I'll just get right into the story...
Last year, I started working for this company where my monthly gross salary was 15k and duty hours are from 11pm to 8am.
Last month, I told my bosses that I'm planning on resigning because I want to go back to school and I don't think I'll be able to juggle the current hours with my school load.
However, they decided to offer me a part time post instead. I can work anytime I want so long as I can at least complete a 20-hour work week.
Apparently, I will be the first part time employee of the company since they never offered such a post to an employee before instead of accepting their resignation.
I just had my first paycheck since I started working part time and the computation they did was to get my daily rate (686), divide that by 8 (hours a day) to get my hourly rate (which is now 85.83), and then multiply that by 40 hours (20 hours a week x 2 ) which is what I'm getting paid for every payday.
Gross Pay: P15,000
Daily Rate : 15,000 / 21.75 = P 686.66
Hourly Rate: 686.66 / 8 = P 85.83
Biweekly Pay: 85.83 * 40 = P 3433.2
Question:
Since I didn't sign a new contract yet that changes my monthly gross pay, is dividing my daily rate by 8 and then using that as my hourly rate still correct?
Or should they be dividing it by 4 hours now instead so I can still get the total 15k gross pay even with the hour change?
I understand that the company can "proportionately decrease the daily wage", but I haven't signed a new contract yet.
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. I'm still new to the work force and would like to get a clear answer.
Thank you!
