Although part-timer ako, pursuant sa definition ng full-time at part-time employee sa Manual for Higher Education in addition sa Faculty Manual ng Ateneo, I believe I performed the duties and responsibilities of a full-time teacher and NOT of a part-time teacher. Apart from my teaching load, they made me attend seminars, conduct researches, judge certain competitions, etc. Then 3 days ago, I received a VERBAL notice that they would not renew my contract for one year. Instead, they would extend my contract only until May for summer, and that's it for me.
Paano po ba ito? Kasi parang niloko ako ng school. They made me consent to the change of my contract from full-time to part-time because of the assurance the Chairperson gave me. Tapos ngayon it seems that I cannot demand for permanency if in case they will extend my contract until May, which technically will be more than three years of my probationary status. The problem is naging part-timer ako so it seems na forfeited na yung 2.5 years ko as a full-time probationary employe because I can "no longer avail of the status and privileges of a probationary employment," Sec 117 ng Manual for Higher Educ. Isn't this an instance of circumventing the law on permanency as contemplated in the CHED Manual for Higher Educ?
Then, when I asked them why they would not renew my contract, they could not even substantiate their reasons. I felt that it was so unfair that I devoted so much of my time for the University and they would simply not renew my contract for reasons they could not even explain to me. Do I have the right to ask them of the bases they used for evaluation? Or is it really their discretion to or to not re-hire me -- a decision I cannot question although and perhaps arbitrarily exercised by the admin?
Ano po ba ang recourse ko dito in case unsatisfactory ang result ng grievance procedure within the university? May laban po ba ako dito? Or the odds are on Ateneo's favor?
Thank you very much.
