We were advise by our land lady that they will implement a P1,000 increase or additional 20% to our current rent which is P5,000, before we agreed to the increase we did some reading on the net and found this article under rental law that states that the owner can only increase for up to 10%, but they are insisting that they've consulted a lawyer about the increase. Is there a basis for this? Am I right to insist that they can only increase 10% or P500 in our case? Thank you in advance for answering my question.
