It depends on whether or not there is an employment contract between the doctor and the hospital, or if there are certain hospital policies that the doctor is made aware of (and subsequently agreed) that bars him from having any other hospital engagement of his services.
To be on the safe side, the doctor must talk to the HR as to what is his current status in the hospital and also inform them that he plans on affiliating with another hospital that does not conflict with his schedule on the original hospital.
