Hi. I just want to ask.
If a couple is married in 1968 and one is just 16 yrs old, is the marriage valid?

I'm not sure kasi what the law says about legal age for marriage during this time.

dymphna:For your info, in 1968 the existing marriage law in the Philippines is RA 386 (Civil Code) enacted in June 18, 1949.

Art 80 states:

The following marriages shall be void from the beginning:

(1) Those contracted under the ages of sixteen and fourteen years by the male and female respectively, even with the consent of the parents; x x x

Therefore, the status of that marriage under the existing regime of law that time, is that, it was void from the very beginning.
