Parking lot is not included in the store perimeter. What covers the insurance is their store itself. Parking lot if you can see most of the parking lots has notice 'park at your own risk!' with or without that sign, they are not responsible for any damages in your car etc. If parking lot is inside the building like Malls with CCTV footage, then you may have a chance, but if it is open parking space then its not their responsibility.
Just be careful in the future and be aware what's around you! I haven't been a victim of mugging because I keep myself aware what is around me and I make a point to people around me that I am aware of them. I was once followed on the bus somewhere in London and I got off the bus and he's still following me around so I made a scene and asked him out loud "Are you following me?" then he moved away! I was shit scared though! because I have 5 iPhone gadgets with me in my bag for Christmas present to the family at the time.
Back in London, my son was mugged with Blackberry 9900 though but I trained my children, in any circumstances like this, DO NOT TAKE RISK OF YOUR LIFE! I can replace what they lose but I cannot replace their life! So after 1 time the same person did it again after 45 days, (just like white leghorns) but he didn't realised my son already remembers his face and I already planned it, I know he will target him again because my son is always updated with gadgets so I gave my son an iPhone 4S which is trackable in my iPad. After he was mugged again, then we managed to traced the phone for 2 hours the police are after the bus the mugger was in. He tried to be smart and toss the iPhone in someone's backyard, then came back after 30 minutes assuming the police are gone by then, then my son spotted him as the police never left the scene as I told them the iPhone is still in the area, he was stupid enough to go back and try to get it.
I put the bastard in jail for 5 years he was given 5 counts 2X carrying deadly weapons, 2X robbery, 1 he claimed he just bought a stolen items. He was done only on 2X robbery because they didn't find the weapons and the person he claims who sold him the gadget but, he was clearly identified by my son and his friends who saw him the day he mugged my son on their way to school. THE END!
