Atty, we are civilly married here abroad and again getting married in the Church (Philippines) next year. Our civil marriage is a secret even to our family and friends. We are planning to start fresh for our church wedding in the Philippines e.g getting all the requirements, marriage license, CENOMAR etc. What are the major legal consequence we are going to experience in the future once we've done this?

I know we can just tell the Church that we're already civilly married but due to personal and family issues we are not opting to do it.

Can we also change the details of our marriage certificate in the Philippines in the future?

Thanks!

if your marriage is already in the records of the embassy and nso, then that will be recognized as the valid marriage.

Atty, we are not required to submit our Marriage Certificate (Civil-held overseas)in our NSO. In this case our upcoming wedding in the Philippines will be submitted to NSO. Is there going to be a problem legally if like NSO finds out that we are already married before?

Is it possible to have a valid marriage abroad and a valid marriage in the Philippines? Again this is with the same person.

Thanks for the reply!

the likelihood is that nso will not find out unless someone reports it. even so, the effect is that the the first marriage will be considered the official marriage
