Unpaid loan in the UAE

I left the UAE in 2004 with an unpaid loan. the amount is quite large at around 200K dirhams or equivalent to PHP 2.5 million. The company I worked with did not remit my end of service pay because my visa was not cancelled, or so they say. This made by unpaid loan baloon to more than PHP 6 million now and a collection agency in the Philippines is running after me. They are employing tactics that may be considered as mild harrassment.

My questions:
•Can I be sued in Philippine courts by the collection agency or by the UAE bank ?
•Can I be extradited to the UAE because of this? Non-payment of debt is considered a criminal offense in the UAE and a person can be jailed

extradition, i am not aware if there is an extradition treaty between uae and the philippines, but unless you've pissed off not only the bank but the uae government as well, i really doubt this will happen.

hi, i have the same situation like yours. I bet the agency sent you an email yesterday regarding criminal case which it did happen to me too. I stayed in uae for 4 years and unfortunately i have unsettled accounts with them. Im also seeking advice regarding this matter. We have the same situation, I was terminated last year due to economic recession and I have big outstanding balance. So what did you to do right now? What steps did you to do to negotiate with the CA? Kinuha ba ang mga ari-arian or bahay at lupa. becuase right now I'm afraid. Need your reply. thanks.

I engaged the services of a local lawyer (here in Pinas) and we are talking to the collection agency. There is nothing to be afraid of. The worst that could happen is for you to pay in installments. The payments do not have to be that big.

Question lang din po after nyo bang makipag arrange ng payments sa collection agency tumigil ba sila sa panghaharass?

i had same case din, galing ako dubai and have unpaid credit cards pro ung akin eh maliit na dirhams lang nman.. cguro nsa 5000 dirhams lang nman.. pero ung stupid collection agent keeps on harassing me. sinabi nya pang my load ako s bank nila eh wla nman. purely merchandise item lang un. she even said ipapa blotter ako SA BARANGGAY. hahaha.. to think na ang pakilala nya is lawyer xa..
