Yes! you can still apply in any part of Middle East. Loans in Middle East are insured up to SR, QR, KD, Dirhams 100,000 etc. the bank will not chase after you if your debt is below than that.

Problem is if they tried to deposit the security check you gave them. If the check bounces due to insufficient funds, then a criminal case may have been filed already. You may get into trouble if you go to a country part of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Countries) which includes Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Did you give them a security check? yung insurance kase papasok lang naman yan kung hindi na talaga sila makasingil syo. Usual process is...

1) Collect from debtor
2) If unable to collect, deposit security checks.
3) If security check not good, file a claim with the insurance

Problem here is sa number 2. If the security check bounces, criminal liability na yan... the banks may report it to the authorities. Even if the banks were able to collect from the insurance, the act of issuing checks that will eventually bounce due to insufficient funds is still an offense.

You may be arrested if you go to any GCC member country.

Not true! I owe the bank in UAE of 50,000 Dirhams in 2009. I left for a holiday and unfortunately didn't manage to go back. as I had problems with my paper works. nobody chase after me! I am now in Qatar for more than a year! Please don't give any advice if you are not sure and if you are just speculating or you haven't experience it yourself! Thank you!

Just because you were able to enter Qatar without any problems does not mean that others will do also. It's like saying, just because you were able to kill someone and you were not caught, then no killer will get caught. There are other circumstances where banks will not deposit the security checks; like if you availed of credit shield. Or perhaps your name was overlooked. Maybe you can go to Qatar Immigration Office and ask if your name is blacklisted ... but i know you wouldn't do that.

Also, please read and understand first before accusing me of giving false advice: "You MAY be arrested if you go to any GCC member country." It is a precaution and not a certainty.

Google is your best friend.. so i would suggest you do some research and make your conclusions from there. Experiencing it once will not make you an expert. It could be a fluke in the system... but we will never know.

Yes! I am working in Doha Qatar at the moment but still travel back and fort to Sharjah U.A.E. and Muscat Oman. I kept telling you if you don't owe Middle East. more than 100K QR, SR, KD, BD, etc. they will never chase after you as all bank are insured only for that amount! if you owe them more than that, better not take risk of stepping back to any part of Middle East! pale

Give it a time! like 3 years because our colleagues did the same they owe the bank more than the insured amount but after 3 years they are back again and they are from Baguio City. so I guessed if you owe them more than 100K then you have to wait for certain time to get the records out of their system. And ensure you don't use the same Bank to open an account if you ever go back to Middle East again.

its been 2 yrs na since umuwi ako, and now my job interview ako for oman. pano kaya un? during application ng visa mlalaman mo ba agad na blacklisted ka or pagdting mo pa ng GCC countries, they would arrest u?

You will know it if applying for your visa are taking long to process like more than 6 months. If you are blacklisted they will not issue a visa under your name so it is not likely for them to let you in the country and arrest you when you arrive. So relax! Wink

Be careful paying them directly from Oman Bank accounts. ensure you pay them using your Philippines account to avoid them controlling your situation in Oman or contacting your bank, if that happens you cannot take any loans in Oman.

how about my case,i left Qatar 12 years ago during Sept.11 and didnt comeback.I left with maybe almost QR10,000 loan at Standard Charter.Late last year someone went to my family back in the Philippines and harassing them to tell me to speak to them or else they will ask the Canadian Immigration to deport me or i will be in jail, which is sound silly.Liable pa ba ako sa utang ko kahit 12 years ago na?

That is ridiculous! Your debt is not even worth QR100K! Do they know your exact address? your debt is not extendable to your relatives. They are just trying.
Who is this someone? Kabayan ba or other nationality? perhaps he/she work with Standard Charter and is just being nosey and bragging he/she can follow up your debts. there are lots of pakialamero! you know? more than 12 years! bank insurance records does not last that long to keep if the payment is inactive, unless the payment is active like on going payment for loans.

No! just don't go back to Qatar if he don't intend to pay his loan, but if he wants to pay it, its okay to go back, but for sure the interest will be very high by the time he decided to go back.
