i'm contract of service with a govt agency. renewal is every 6 months.
this december 6 a laptop was stolen at our office and i was the last person to return it inside the drawer of a unsecured desk like i always do. and it was always where they store the laptop even before. i have been using it for 3 weeks before it was stolen and I went to a vacation. Returning we realized it was missing.
i was told i was not going to be renewed because of the stolen laptop and i have to replace it because I was the last person to have possession of the laptop. no due process at all. i asked just to be transferred to other department but the boss refused.
no other person was "punished" and he just said that to set an example.
