is it true that when church wed you cannot file annulment?

Hi,

I have been living as a single mom for almoset 3 years, me and my ex husband decided to separate for some reasons such as physical abuse. We are now living on our separate lives, we even had a consensus signed in our barangay hall. I am planning to file an annulment case maybe two years from now and I had this information that when a couple were Church wed they cannot file an annulment. I just want to verify that couple who were married in the church cannot file an annulment case. We were never married in the civil office, we were directly married in the church. How true was it that I can't file an annulment case?
