can i decline to be a witness in an ongoing case against my friend. apparently i am a primary witness to a car accident but i don't want to get involved in the case mainly because it might also have a come back to me and also i dont want to get my friend into any trouble because of my statement. need legal advice as soon as possible. thanks

ultimately, no, can't refuse. but you don't have to attend until you receive a subpoena
