well, i filed it for my mom when she was still alive a decade ago, now that she's been dead for 2 years now, the check kept coming in her bank account. am i obliged to report her death to the SSS? is it my sole responsibility? am i liable now that they, the SSS, had put a money (summing up to 44,000 on my calculator)on my moms bank (also a gov't bank, PNB)?

i'm a farmer, i tend our family's lands in a remote island...i live a peaceful life...goin to the city aint an option for me...do they the SSS have legal grounds to sue me...go after me? 44,000 aint that big but yet it's is still money.

i'm no sss employee but to answer your question, you have to report the death and you'll be liable to return the value of the checks you have received from the time that she died up to the last check. better to report that matter earlier than later. i'm so sorry for your loss. God bless you.
