good afternoon..
i need help regarding my birth certificate, i've been using my moms name ever since i started studying (pimentel)but this year i tried getting another copy and my father's name (tomaquin)is there. nso personnel said i need to file in court to change it back to pimentel, my question is how long will be the process take and how much? pls help! thanks.. Smile

yes,my father(tomaquin, filed 2 days after my birth) sign my birth certificate.. but the thing is i've been using my my mom's last name(pimentel, late register) for everything(which i also have birth certificate that i got from nso years ago), now i cant get married here coz i cant get birth certificate w my moms last name anymore..how much and how long does it take?
pls help! and thanks in advance.. Smile

if your parents are married, there is no changing it back. i normally advise that the mother adopt the child, but with you, perhaps a change of name can prosper.

you also have the choice of adopting your father's name. you can use your husbands name anyway.

cost depends on which lawyer you talk to. length of time depends on what happens in the case. the osg might oppose your petition.

but all of my documents(passport,school records,sss id etc.)are under my moms (pimentel)name.. and i got married at hk and consulate asking also for my birth cert but i cant present(w pimentel) to authenticate the marriage cert and forward to nso..

what do i need to do then?
