CREDIT CARD (Court Summon)

Hello! I have defaulted my card due to my financial crisis and the collections agency have been calling me every now and then. I said that I am willing to settle my debt but on an installment basis and I also requested that the interest and other charges be waived. Also, I said to the collections agent that I would like to settle my account directly to the bank and not to them as they have additional charges. However, the bank always refer me to the collections agency. Last month I received a summon from Metropolitan trial court and I did not attend as I do not know if it is valid or not. How would I know if the summon is valid? Will I be imprison because I did not cooperate with the collections agency? Please advise.
