My sister and her co-workers were fired at work for talking about their supervisor in my sister's house.

Hi, Atty. Thank you for helping all of us with our legal questions. It was my sister's birthday. She invited some of her co-workers to her house to celebrate with her. She and some of her co-workers made some remarks about their supervisor. One of the invitees reported the conversation to their supervisor. All the ones who participated on the conversation were interrogated and fired. They were talking about the supervisor's unethical behavior at work. Is it considered unlawful dismissal when they were talking in private place? Please advise us. Thank you.

were they given notices to explain, an admin hearing, and a notice of termination?

i believe that is not a just cause for termination.

They were not given a notice. They were interrogated then fired. They sued the supervisor but lost the case. What are the possible reason for losing their case?
