Arresto Menor


May a foreigner on a tourist visa represent themselves in a Filipino court in a civil trial? I can prove I have studied a self-representation course in America (fully produced by a prcticing attorney, Jurisdictionary.com) and have studied legal research using the latest Nolo book.

it depends on what kind of case. if it is a small claim, lawyer are not allowed. our rules allow a non-lawyer to appear in the MTC. at the RTC, you can inform the court of your intent and see if the court will approve.
