I would like to ask for advice on my situation.

Last year I underwent training on an animation company and signed an exclusive contract stating I would be available for the whole project I signed for. However after a year the project was cancelled, and I thought I could finally resign but as I observed I couldn't find any end of contract from the other employees but instead another exclusive contract for a new project.

I was frustrated then, because honestly I wanted to get out of the company due to the minimum wage and the lack of benefits suck as 13th month pay, Philhealth, etc so I went AWOL for about 2 weeks now.

Then yesterday my mother informed me that the HRD called at home informing my mother that they will sue me for going AWOL because I still have a 2-year contract with the company, although I reviewed the contract many times and I read no such thing. The only deal stated is that I have to complete the first project or I'll have to pay P50 000 penalty.

Please help me.

i have to advise you that it's a bit dangerous to give advise without reading the contract. it's not clear whether you are a regular, project employee or independent contractor.

nevertheless, it's wrong to go awol. whether you are an employee or contractor, you can be liable for damages.
