Hi,

Can someone enlighten me on my situation? Please and Thank you.

Got married 2003 bec. 5mos pregnant. In 2005, the guy I married left us for someone else. To date the guy I married has 2 daughters and is living with another woman. Since he left he gave no child support. But his parents (my in laws) took care of our kid while I was away - finishing college and later on working. Most of my kid's expenses were shouldered by my in laws. Since the father of my kid left, he never visited or provided support. In 2010, I took my kid to my dad's place and have been providing for his needs since then. The guy I married and I have been talking about annulment but he kept on insisting that he gets custody of our kid.

I guess my question would be - Is there a way to get annulled without compromising the custody of my child? Is there a way to get annulled and make sure I get the custody of my child?

Another thing would be - I'm not well off so I guess Is there anyone who would be willing to work with me on installment basis or possibly for free? How much would it cost?

I really need help and guidance on this. Thank you so much.

it is on the presumption that your child is less than 7 years old, now he can not meddle with the custody issue of your child considering that under the law its the mother who has the right over custody unless you are "unfit" to have the custody of the child. You can file for a child support case against your legal spouse and deal with the annulment on a later date.

normally annulment case is costly and as you said you are not well off.

Thank you for the insight. Filing for child support might be a good idea to consider. My child is turning 8 this year.

It just angers me that since he left he hasn't given any child support and yet he threatens me that he will take our child away from me so that he can let his parents take care of our child. I just don't want him threatening me that he can get custody of our child; he has his own family now.

Yes, I am not well off to shed money for annulment at the moment. But I'm earning enough to take care of our child. And I was told that there might be organizations/groups that might be able to help me.
