Hello po! I'm asking for advice for my situation with PLDT and JNL Recovery (their collection agency of choice).
Around 2014, my mom subscribed to an internet & landline plan costing P1300. Since she was already a senior citizen, we used my name to apply. We had no problems with monthly payment, a few times we even payed in advance.
In 2016, my dad retired and came home from abroad. Let's just say that something drastic happened a few months after, and because of that incident, we are now in a bad financial situation. By that time I was already working, but what I'm earning was really just enough for basic needs and water & electricity bills. Since we could no longer afford extra utilities, PLDT disconnected us, which was understandable.
So since 2017, I haven't been able to pay the balance. Some may think that P4145.78 is just a small amount, but with our current situation, every cent counts. PLDT wanted to be paid in full, which I'm not currently capable of doing.
Around August 2017, JNL Recovery started calling. I explained my situation and they said they would get back to me. But in the following months they just kept texting me, saying that they would file a case against me and even do a field visit to our house. Let me insert the most recent text I received:
Good day, (my name). Please be informed that we are to conduct a field visit on June 14, 2018 regarding your PLDT Acct. in the amount of P4,145.78. Should you wish to save time and further inconveniences, we will expect your full payment within 24 hours only. If payment has been made, please text your OR No. at 09178529299 or call us at 09178612119, 09985866525 or (02) 281-7185 and disregard this message. Thank you. JNL LAW OFFICE
Can they really do those things? I read in some blogs that those were just scare tactics, and that filing a case would be far more expensive for them than what I owe. And how about the field visit? I don't want them harassing & upsetting my parents, who are both nearing their 70's, since I work in Manila and only come home on the weekends..
What should I do? I don't have any intention of not paying, I just really don't have the resources right now for a full payment, which they keep on insisting. Can't they just blacklist my name from their services and stop with the harassment, until I can pay them back?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
